Order a cheese board, sip some wine and take time to visit with a friend in this gem of a landmark. It is a wonderful way to enjoy a couple of hours in downtown Greenville. They also often have live music.
Fatto a Mano Pizzeria— 2205 Lee Street• (903) 259-6669 — is another experience all its own. Fine, handmade pizza and Italian fare served in a casually hip, family-friendly spot. There’s a large selection of wine and a contemporary vibe throughout the building. It’s a good idea to call for reservations on weekends.
For a bar and grill atmosphere, try Ashen Rose Pub — 2809 Lee Street • (903)-453-8111 — featuring a full bar, 20 craft beers, and homemade food by one of our hometown gals.
If you’re in the mood for a good cup of coffee don’t hesitate to swing into Prairie Coffee Co. — 2404 Lee St. Greenville, TX 75401 • (903) 450-4502 • Prairie Coffee Co. crafts some of the finest coffees, specialty drinks and pastries in Northeast Texas.
While at Uptown Forum — 2610 Lee Street • (202) 270-4276 • uptownforum.net — check out the shopping in this three-story historic building: Lenore Cole (art, jewelry, soaps, candles) — (903) 453-8003 • lenorecolecandles.com, At The Top Art Gallery, and Cheesebrough and Campbell Specialty Chocolate.
Then go up a block to Luanne’s Mary of Puddin Hill — 2518 Lee Street • (903) 453-8033 • goldbelly.com/mary-of-puddin-hill. Puddin Hill’s pecan fruitcake is a tradition whose recipe has never changed since 1839. Mary’s fruitcake is known as a symbol of Greenville and it’s long history. And they have many more treats including lots of chocolate.

Also while in Greenville venture out from downtown a bit to visit Vintage and Lace — 7716 Wesley • (903) 413-1770. They are open until 6 p.m. and feature a variety of vendors with great home furnishings and clothing options.
Take an afternoon to go visit the Audie Murphy American Cotton Museum — 600 Interstate 30 East • (903) 450-4502 • cottonmuseum.com. Much of the museum is dedicated to local World War II hero and movie star Audie Murphy. There’s also a turn-of-the-century Main Street area, and a popular section for visitors is the oddball stuff like the “hair wreath,” a famous wooden leg, a baseball autographed by June Allyson, and a vintage hair curling machine.
Besides live music at some of the restaurants and Landon Winery, Greenville has two dynamic downtown venues with great shows.
The Greenville Municipal Auditorium — 2821 Washington Street • (903) 457-3126 • showtimeatthegma.com — has national touring acts most weekends like Gene Watson, The Gatlin Brothers, Crystal Gayle, Johnny Rodriguez, and John Conlee, as well as the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, The Russia Ballet Theatre, and other entertainment.
The Texan Theater — 2712 Lee Street • (903) 259-6360 • texantheatergreenville.com — also has shows most weeks in an intimate room complete with four-course dinners. Some of its upcoming shows includes George Ducas, Alex Williams, The Artimus Pyle Band, Tony Jackson, Bob Schneider, and Music of Cream. And make sure to get your tickets quickly to the all-new Road Less Traveled series where you get to hear the stories behind the music. Each show features one up-and-coming artist and one established artist. These seats sell out fast! The Texan is also home to the local’s favorite Hump Day Happy Hour taking place every Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. It features local artists and musicians. And don’t forget to stop in the Texan Theater Coffee Shop to get a specialty coffee, cappuccino, espresso or tea.
